Our current adventure

One of the perks of being in the military is Space Available travel, or Space A. Basically for a nominal fee, we can travel to other countries and states, and not pay the astronomical prices for flights in the summer time. It's not as simple as showing up and getting on a plane though! It requires patience, flexibility and sometimes even a little creativity. We are attempting to go home Space A starting Wednesday. This means we show up at a nearby Air Force base, and go through a selection process similar to the organ donor process...we are assigned categories and within our category we are ranked based on our date and time of sign-up. Then we wait for an available flight, and wait for our category to be called. Our best options are to fly into Baltimore (BWI) or McGuire AFB in New Jersey. From there we make our way to NC, to rent a car and drive, drive, drive! Jay hasn't been home in two years, so we'll be spending most of our time with his family in Virginia, and a little beach time in SC. We'll also be going to Zoe's third birthday party, which we're very excited about. Space A can be tricky and unpredictable, so it can take us a few days to get a flight. Wish us luck for our first July 4th in the states in several years!
