Where did five years go?

Last Friday, Jay and I celebrated five amazing, adventurous years of marriage. I'm surprised at how quickly it goes by, yet how it seems to have just happened yesterday! This year we were able to wake up together in our own place. I went to work, Hayden went to school, Jay went to class and later Jay went to work. So while we didn't have a big to-do, it was wonderfully special to spend it as a normal family.

Saturday night Hayden went to my brother's to play with his cousins while Jay and I went to Fleming's for dinner. This was going to be the third year since 2006 that we missed the Carolina-Duke game at Carolina, as we got married while they were playing and our anniversary seems to fall around the annual event. However, when we were seated at our nice, cozy booth we realized we were just outside the bar with perfect view of TWO tv's with the game on! We enjoyed an incredible meal while our beloved Tarheels dominated the game. We had wine and dessert and talked about our wedding day and the things that have happened since then. Here's to five more years, and many more after that!

Four years

I'm behind on posting (shocking, I know) but for now I just wanted to wish my husband a Happy Anniversary! Four years ago today, we were in a gazebo in Charleston, SC saying our vows on a beautiful but windy day. I could have never imagined this life for us four years later, and I hope the next four years keep us guessing just as much!

Where does the time go?

We've been busy bees since Jay left on Monday! We hung out with our friends and ran errands and had some adventures in babysitting! We also started our Love and Logic Parenting class, and so far I really like it. L&L is all about helping kids make choices, and be accountable for those choices. It's about responsibility, and helping parents use effective strategies for behavior. I won't be able to use any of the techniques for awhile, but I like to have as much in my parenting arsenal as possible.

Wednesday was our three-year-anniversary, and the first one Jay has missed! We spent it with Jenn and Addie eating Thai food in Wurzburg after dropping the dogs off, so I can't complain! I did get to talk to Jay at least, so I'm thankful for that.

Thursday we took Hayden's first trip to Poland! We like to shop for pottery there in a small town just across the German/Polish border. Four of us packed up four kids in two cars and hit the road around 7am. We made pretty good time, stopping to feed and change the babies and stretch our legs. I also got to test out our new Navigon, which I'm already in love with! How did we live here almost three years without a navigation system? I have no idea. It was a long day, with us getting home after midnight. Hayden did really well, but by the end of the evening was tired of his car seat.

Today he has his first low-grade fever :-( He is eating and playing fine, and seems to be in a good mood. He's flushed and a little tired though, so I'm keeping a close watch on him. Bless his heart, he's traveled out!
