We met for our team photo, snapped a few pics and hung out for a bit before the race started. We managed to get ourselves right up front at the Start line and watched Cindy Farmer kick the race off with some fun. I was so excited to be walking with three of the girls I recruited to Salem, who graduated in 2009. What a treat! I remember these ladies as high school seniors and now they're grown up, graduated and some are even married. They were excited to meet Lila in person, since they see her on Facebook every day.
We finished the race (no one paid attention to our time, as we were the non-competitive group) and were glad for overcast skies, instead of the 90 degrees that we were anticipating. Unfortunately after the 5k, I still had a good uphill climb with the stroller to get back to my car, so I had a nice workout for the day! Lila was a champ, sleeping through miles 1 and 3 and waking up for the pretty part through downtown Winston-Salem. I'm excited to bring her again next year!
