One Year Pictures

Look how sweet this adorable girl is!

We went to Winston Salem on January 18, just after all the snow, to see Michelle at Michelle Laprade Photography. We were all in for a treat!

She still had her Winter Wonderland scene up, which was perfect! Somehow, Lila's birthday dress got here in plenty of time not only for her party, but her pictures too!

Lila was so precious and sweet, and this picture gave me the perfect canvas to do this, which I saw on Pinterest ages ago and adored...

Yes, I'm a scrapbooker. A pseudo-blogger. A baby-booker. But this was such a fun way to capture who she is right now. Then we got out the the book of her newborn pics...

And she loved it! We had a great time with the cake and Lila was all too happy to eat cake and be messy!

Happy birthday my sweet baby girl!

Newborn pictures

While I was pregnant I contacted a photographer about doing some newborn pictures of our sweet girl. We didn't get to do these with Hayden in Germany, and I really wanted them so I figured we'd try with Lila. Even with coming three weeks early, our photographer had no problems fitting us into her schedule. She's awesome! She came to our house with a truck full of props, several cameras and a great portfolio. She uses all natural lighting and once we finally got going, we realized we were losing light quickly. So even though she was there over five hours, she just didn't get the shots she wanted. She came back the next day for no extra fee, and ended up getting everything we wanted in about two hours. We ended up with some really fabulous pictures that I can't wait to use to finish up some baby projects I've been working on!

Special delivery!

My sweet turtle!

My sleeping girl.

Such a princess.

Baby blocks.

My little ladybug.

Tarheel girl.

Sweet smiles.

Pretty in pink.

We have a bunch more, but this is enough for now. I can't wait to watch her grow and change!

What? No pictures?

Sorry, we haven't taken as many pictures since we started working and schooling full time, but this is Hayden sitting in the middle of his Toy Story race track.

And this is him after his first day at school.

And finally, this is Hayden enjoying a successful nap.

Eating machine

I'm alway so excited when Hayden likes new foods. Truth be told, we haven't found much that he DOESN'T like. Today when I picked him up from daycare so I could get a little gym time, the teachers are always so surprised at how much he eats. On today's menu? Broccoli lasagna! He's never had broccoli before and isn't likely to have much at home since neither Jay nor I eat it, but I'm determined to work on it. He loves spinach and I'm a big fan of that so we'll be getting in a lot of that but I will really have to work with broccoli. We've been archenemies for many years but we're learning to get along.

Last night Hayden woke up while we were still awake so I heated up some milk and discovered that he finally likes it! I don't know if it's because we just kept giving it to him or that I finally got the temperature right, but he gobbled it right down. It's so much fun to see him morph from a baby to a boy right in front of our eyes. Unfortunately our picture-taking has drastically slowed since Hayden's first birthday, but the holidays are right around the corner and we'll have plenty to share. Hopefully soon we can get some steps on video as well!

Pictures

Our community newspaper is doing a story on the infant massage class Hayden and I attend, and they came yesterday to take a few pictures. Check it out!

Busy day!!

Hayden was such a little trooper yesterday! We got up early and he took a daytime bath for once, so he'd be fresh and clean for his first photo studio pictures. We dropped Jay off at work and headed to the studio for his 1:30 appointment. He was fairly cooperative for a little fellow his age, as we moved and positioned and clicked and flashed for a good half hour. The photographer was repositioning him at one point for a new background, and I realized he had hit his limit. So we called it quits and packed up. We have an appointment on Saturday to go over our proofs and pick our favorites for prints. I can't wait!

Afterwards, we headed over to the clinic for his shots. He got one oral vaccine first, which was super easy. I think it tasted good, because he gobbled it up! We moved into the little room, and Bob got the needles ready. It was my job to hold his hand, so I didn't have to watch the needles. When Bob stuck the first needle, Hayden was surprised and then angry! He screamed and turned red and howled until he ran out of air. Meanwhile Bob was sticking needles two and three, and I had Hayden's pacifier ready so when he took a breath, I popped that in his mouth and he was content. So we're done with shots for two months. Hayden was a little warm last night but not quite fever-status, so it looks like he's reacting well.

Those two events went so quickly we had time to get the car inspected, run a few more errands and check the mail. Good news...his birth announcements have arrived! We had time to kill before Jay got off work (man I can't wait until we have a second car!) so I stuffed them into their envelopes while we waited. Today I've addressed and stamped and licked (gross) and they are on their way tomorrow when I go to the mailbox. Jay never remembers to go to the mailbox when I give him stamped envelopes, so I'm just waiting until tomorrow when we have another round of errands and appointments. Last night Hayden slept off and on most of the evening, so I had time to do a little scrapbooking. I'm on a roll, and might be caught up sooner than I thought!
